Thought I'd kick things off with a Nic question... One that I'm genuinely curious about!
What name does Nic prefer to be called by? I've always called him 'Nic', and in recent interviews that is how Jerry Bruckheimer talked about him and also writes his name as 'Nic'. As opposed to Nick.
We know it's not Nicholas but Nicolas .... But yeah, would really like to know which variant and spelling he might prefer!
I'm guessing he might say whichever we personally prefer..he seems generous on how people interpret other things...but has anyone seen any interviews on the subject or anything like that?
i have no idea what he would prefer, but seeing his name with a "k" just bugs me. i guess i am a purist. nothing bugs me more than seeing him called nicky, tho. that makes me want to scream! there is an unnamed forum that uses that as his name and i want to smack them and tell them to educate themselves. not saying i use perfect grammar, but adding a letter that is not there? definitely a pet peeve of mine.

The one that gets me is Nicholas, understandable mistake though I guess! I may be wrong, but I think Nic was known as Nicky in his childhood, definitely called it by his Mum ( check out the A&E Biography I posted in the Projection room. )
I was thinking , maybe Nic himself doesn't really mind....I mean he always says about his films that whatever our interpretation is, is fine by him! But a name is a lot more personal ... Does anyone remember reading that he went mad once when 'Nicholas Cage' had been written on his chair when filming a movie? Or maybe that's another of those Nic myths!
Lol....we all know what he really likes to be called of course...Big Daddy!
LOL! lula u crack me up something fierce. i already have a daddy, and yes, at 35 i am still a daddy's girl.

I like to call him Nic. I don't like it when people spell his name like Nicholas, either. I also think it's annoying when people call him Nicky. When I listened to the commentary for Moonstruck it just about killed me everytime Cher kept on calling him Nicky. It was an interesting commentary, though.
Oh yes, that is a cool audio commentary too quazie, I can't knock Cher, apparently she fought for Nic to be in that role! He was born Nicholas, so i guess that is an easy 'mistake' to make, but it is surprsing that articles and interviewers would still use it, and they do, when his actor name has been Nicolas Cage since...well..since the beginning of Cage Time!
I prefer Nic too, but that is not to say he prefers that at all, he didn't seem at all phased in the interview where he was named Notorious N.I.C.K! But that might be because he is a gentleman who lets people have their own interpretation of his name.
I never knew he was christened Nicholas and changed the spelling! I think he gets called Nicky sometimes, I am sure I have heard others refer to him that way in commentary. Personally I think Nicky is a nice nickname to use sometimes, if I had a Nic of my own I'd prob be calling him Nicky sometimes!
Wow, well maybe I am completely wrong! and perhaps it is an urban myth I have believed all these years! that is what I have read! you mean he was really always Nicolas ? well knock me down with a feather! I owe Nic an apology for having this piece of misinformation lodged in my psyche. Bad bad Lula. *hangs head in shame* (I am not kidding)

Oh, I wasn't trying to knock off Cher! I'm sorry if it sounded like I did because my mom actually got me Cher's greatest hits CD and she enjoys it as much as I do. I was just put off when she called Nic Nicky because I've never heard anybody call him that before. It was a new experience for me. I'm sure I'll get used to it and over time it might grow on me. I'm glad you like to call him Nic, too, though!

Yeah that's right, thank you Emma.I'd like call him Nic or Nígǔlāsī Kǎi qíin Chinese.Dunno the differences between "Nicolas" and "Nicholas",but it seems that "Nicholas" is a pretty common name.
