"I'm not used to it but I know who allows me to continue to work, so, if I meet someone who's enthusiastic about movies and a fan, I'm happy to say hello. It can be frustrating for people around me but not for me. I like to meet people."
Aw, the one with him and the little girl is adorable, and he looks so fantastic in those gold shades!
It must be hard to remain in 'on' mode all the time in public! I'm always amazed how on earth he manages this part of being famous.
I've expressed my feelings on it before..there seems to be this justification given by the public and media that 'celebrity' is part of the package of being in the movies or other form of entertainment..I don't agree...the only reason it has become the 'norm' is because we've made it so...and as a fan i personally have never ever had that hankering for autographs or handshakes...it seems artificial. Both Nic and us fans are real people, that whole thing seems like..well what is that?
But.... if Nic were to drop by the castle for some much needed R and R, maybe soak up the atmosphere in our magical gardens, i'd be delighted for him to stay and never say a word to him! Just let him be. but if i were to bump in to him walking about the moat i'd offer him some herbal tea, or meade or whatever!
i realise this is my own projection by the way, just giving my perspective, no judgement on anyone elses views...or making some statement about how celebrities themselves, or Nic, feels
Lol, I've probably told this tale countless times before about Sean Connery? I was in Marbella, years ago, by the marina, i was only young, and my Mum spotted Sean Connery on a pontoon looking up towards the houses on the hill. She pestered me to get an autograph handing me a drinks coaster and pen scolding me about always being too shy. I really didn't want to do it not because of my shyness but because he's a person, out and about and clearly not wanting to be hassled or approached (from childhood i picked up on people's feelings very easily. He did not want any attention drawn to him) but with my Mum's strict orders in my ear i got up and walked along the pontoon until next to him and looked up where he was looking . He looked at me as if to say please don't draw any attention to me so i just stood looking up with him for a few seconds then i just continued walking past. To me that was totally the right thing to do. It feels to me that all celebs deserve space. I was really angry with my Mum and just went back and told her it's obvious he wants to be left alone and he's a human being just like everyone else. She never forgave me! Lol! . This, by the way, does not mean I don't fantasize about meeting him, or snogging the man's face off..but i'm aware that is fantasy...and the reality is something entirely different!
That's why i enjoy so much and think this forum is important...we can Nic out as much as we like, and it's not an imposition upon him or anyone!

Wow! Great story Lula! I definitely get "I don't want to bother them." thing. Depending upon the circumstance, stars are allowed their privacy.
On the other hand... IT'S SEAN CONNERY!!!! YIPPIE!!!!! I would have gotten the autograph, quietly thanked Mr. Connor, and moved about my merry way - LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to a Janet Jackson concert a few years back. As I was walking through the parking lot, up to the arena, I spotted Rene Elizondo, Janet's husband/boyfriend at the time. I made a mad dash for him and started telling him what a huge fan I was of Janet's.
He asked me not to scream or make any sudden movements, and then he handed me 2 front row seat tickets to the show that night. He thanked me for not screaming or acting a fool over the tickets. I politely thanked him and walked away, screaming inside!!!!
I enjoyed that concert so much that night. It was an amazing experience.
Nic is so gracious and he is one of the few actors on this planet that GETS, it's the fans that pay the hefty paychecks stars helm, so showing a little appreciation by taking a picture, shaking a hand or simply saying hi, means so much for a fan that supports them year-round.
He is always so great and NICe toward his fans. After such a long time in the buiseness, others would surly be getting anoyed of that. But, Nic is really a true gentleman and so gracious. I think, that`s one of the many reasons, why his fans around the world love and admire him so much.
