For his first film in three dimensions, the actor has enjoyed as a child.Even in bed with his partner.
Interview by Henry Arnaud, Hollywood - March 14, 2011, 8:19 p.m.
Meet Nicolas Cage is like playing Russian roulette: you have one chance in four of you take a bullet in the head.Often, Cage is not very talkative and dull when it should ensure the promotion of a film.Today he is in great shape. "And how's my buddy Switzerland? I feel I see you almost as often as my family, "he says, laughing. True, this is our fourth meeting in seven months. In 'Hell Driver', it embodies Milton is desperate to catch the killers of his daughter.
You are the star of "Hell Driver. What was the biggest challenge on this film?
This is my first movie in 3D. I really wanted to have fun and learn with this technique is totally different from all my previous films. There is a scene where my character has dinner in a restaurant, I wanted my tongue out as far as possible to try to touch the viewer sitting in fourth place (laughs).
It's violent and sensual. Are you running a different sex scene in 3D?
I spent weeks doing research by asking me the question (note: he laughs). I searched several positions of the Kama Sutra which could be exuberant on the screen ... Charlotte Ross, my partner and I were exhausted at the end of the day's shooting. It was prepared for it so we were hungry after this "exercise." We shared a large package of chicken fried to unpack (laughs).
Your wife is she a fan of your films?
Some of them (laughs). Let's say my wife does not like watching a movie with me because I choose things that seem odd or too violent. I'm a fan of science fiction, horror, gore ... Anyway, I love all movies that never go on television before midnight. Alice hates!
What fascinates you about science fiction to the point of giving your son the name of Superman Kryptonian Kal-El?
Kal-El is my favorite name. What's better than Superman for my son? I love science fiction as such can analyze modern society. A movie like "District 9" criticism of apartheid even if the story is about aliens. Science fiction is the only way to convey a message without running afoul of a minority or a political group
Does it seems easier to adapt this kind of universe designs for adults or BD movie with the progress of special effects?
Absolutely. The adaptations of comics in the early 1970s were often unsuccessful because the technology did not exist. Today, everything can be represented by computer, it gives very strong films. The only problem is that all superheroes have been adapted on the big screen, outside of Green Lantern that we will see soon. I would imagine that young designers of new heroes to renew the genre. Otherwise, there is bound to make remakes of Superman or Spider-Man.
How do you organize your personal life?
I travel everywhere with my family. We just spent several weeks in Romania and Turkey, where I was shooting "Ghost Rider 2." Alice and Kal-El were with me. Our son is 5 years old and can still afford to take it everywhere before he starts school
You had to overcome a lot of trouble, especially with the IRS. What mood are you today?
I have a new philosophy of life that allows me to live every day without worrying about problems. My wife is from Asia and we have spent months in Thailand in the middle of a popular uprising. Despite the unrest, blockades and confrontations, there was a serenity in the people I met ... I tried to apply it and it works. Think positive, solve its problems without being sucked into an abyss. I am fortunate to have a healthy family is the principal.
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" starring Monica Bellucci was recently released on DVD. This film was your idea, right?
Somehow. I've always been fascinated by magicians and I dreamed of playing in a cinema. There is something great to play as a magician because the possibilities are endless supernatural events in these cases.
Is this is your movie adaptation of the cartoon "Fantasia" where Mickey Mouse was the sorcerer's apprentice?
Exactly. The special effects have made such progress that it is possible to convert an animated film like "Fantasia" in an adventure with characters of flesh and bone. The sequence with broomsticks is almost perfect replica of "Fantasia" elsewhere.
