Apologies in advance to our members in cooler climes, or indeed those in teh Southern hemisphere who are in the depths of winter.
Here in the uk summer I have been enjoying experimenting with makng my own popsicles, my memories of them as a kid were sickly things made from nothing but artifical colouring and ingredients, usually in some lurid shade of bright blue!!!
But I am rediscovering them in a natural way, using only natural organic ingredients! My faves are cranberry, beetroot juice and possibly the unltimate is jasmine tea! that is without any black tea, just the dred flower heads they look gorgeous when they open up in the water, so fragrant too! You csn use any herbal tea, or herbs, another favourite is red rose and lavender..or something like peppermint is very refreshing!
anyway so i stumbled on this link and thought i would share in case anyone else is suffereing the extreme heat and would enjoy sucking on a cool popsicle!
I think cranberry would be delicious. Those look yummy, nice link! I make fruit juice ones but it would be fun to try different flavours and textures like that. Thanks Lula, enjoy!
Well I am glad it inspires Ladies of the castle! Discovered this works with soya yoghurt too!
something i woudn't recommend in popsicle form, avocado. to my tastebuds, which lurve avocado, that is still meant to be a savoury thing not sweet! it was really odd!
Lol, it was yucky Sprocket! my friend from the Phillipines says that avocado is a sweet dish there ad she can't understand so i can eat it with an olive oil and lemon dressing, so she inspired me, maybe i should have added someth8ng else! lol, an experimental chef gets teh thumbs up from me but frying an egg in peanut butter? i can see the logic with the oil, i can almost see how egg and peanut could go together! i think the look of it may be the killer, sunny side up may have looked a bit...brown....nutty....
i am a beetroot fanatic it is such an underrated veg, and it is sweet too, can balance blood sugar levels either way. miraculous. would love to know how you get on and if you added anything! witht he uk weather as it is at the moment though, very unsummery, I am moving more towards a good Borscht! ever tried it with a dash of vodka?

Lavender Earl Grey tea is one of my Favs. Here's a quick and easy Thai dish that's yummy: boil spaghetti pasta in the bottom of a double boiler and put diced carrots and broccoli in the top to steam. When the veggies are tender, drain the water and mix them. Add a big dollop of crunchy peanut butter and some hot&sweet garlic sauce (they sell it here next to the sushi). Mix it and voila instant healthy & delicious. Takes about 10 minutes. I use Barilla Plus pasta because it is a complete protein and isn't tasteless and mushy like white flour pasta.

I don't like anything that is rice-like usually, tho once in a while I'm up for rice stir frys. Not a big grain fan generally, tho I know there are lots of good things in there. Spaghetti noodles and occasional Ezekial Bread toast with peanut butter, banana, and dark chocolate chips are the exceptions.
Lol, definitely the heat and sweetness lady G! Much as I love the bergamot flavour of earl grey, i do not drink any black tea as such, only herbs..or honey, (i am vegan ) but mango honey and lavendar sounds like a divine combination!!! both hot or cold!!
well, i added chilli to my last beetroot batch.... that was a very bizarre experience, the ice with the hot chilli! can't say i would recommend..but you could try and decide for yourselves!!!! combinations of apple / pear/ banana and cinnamon/ cardamon were delixh, raspberries heavenly, the plums fresh off the tree didn't taste too great as ice..much nicer lighly baked with a some cold soy yoghurt!
Quinoa might be soemthing you would enjoy then Lady Grace, as it is an amino acid rich proten and although it acts as a great rice substitute it is actually a seed not a grain!
Oh, I'll have to look into quinoa -- didn't know it was a seed. Just had a bowl of strawberries, oranges, raisins, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds, with soy milk, for breakfast. Maybe I'll add quinoa to my mix!
what a delish breakfast Lady Grace, I am happy you give this food to you, i know it is very much a cliche but for me it is true that we are what we eat in the sense of our energetic and spiritual selves as well as the physical ! and so many people do not care about what they eat.
quinoa would require soaking before eating if you are not going to cook it, or sprouting them... makes them supersuperfoods of course!! a fave warm beakfast of mine is quinoa flakes and rice flakes cooked with soya milk, maybe some fruit and spices addded, it is the best gluten free porridge you can make!
enjoying our food thread thank you for your sharings Lady Grace
