Goodness gracious me! I thought we had a thread for The Beatles, but it appears not!
What kind of castle is this??!!!
I have been a Beatlemaniac since I was a young teenager, not too fashionable at the time but hey, I can never get anywhere near as much oomph and joyfulness as I do from my seemingly endless voyage throught their songs. it never gets tired and there is nothing like it ( for me, still. )
I love their music from the beginning to the end, but i guess i lean towards post Rubber Soul if i had to choose a favourite period.
Words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup They slither while they pass They slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting thorough my open mind Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes That call me on and on across the universe Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing through my open ears exciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on across the universe
Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Jai guru deva Jai guru deva
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together See how they run like pigs from a gun see how they fly I'm crying Sitting on a cornflake Waiting for the van to come Corporation T-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday Man you've been a naughty boy you let your face grow long
I am the eggman they are the eggmen I am the walrus Goo goo g' joob
Mr. city policeman sitting pretty little policemen in a row See how they fly like Lucy in the sky See how they run I'm crying I'm crying, I'm crying Yellow matter custard Dripping from a dead dog's eye Crabalocker fishwife Pornographic priestess Boy, you've been a naughty girl you let your knickers down
I am the eggman They are the eggmen I am the walrus Goo goo g' joob
Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun If the sun don't come you get a tan from standing in the English rain
I am the eggman They are the eggmen I am the walrus Goo goo g' joob
Expert, texpert choking smokers don't you think the joker laughs at you See how they smile like pigs in a sty See how they snide I'm crying Semolina pilchard climbing up the Eiffel tower Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe
I am the eggman They are the eggmen I am the walrus Goo goo g' joob Goo goo g' joob Goo goo g' goo goo goo g' joob goo juba juba juba juba juba juba juba juba juba juba juba juba
I think there are other Beatles songs posted here and there too. Thanks Lula, really had a great time listening to these, especially seeing the Walrus video!
Here is a great video of 'Get Back' from their last live performance, on the Apple studios roof, wish I could have been there!!
My first English song was Yesterday, when i was a junior high school student.
It hits me all of a sudden I had a reason to listen to their music again! I'm proud that I was a Beatlemaniac at that time, as you can clearly see how much i love the words "maniac" "manic" from my name. Thank you so much for posting these fantastic songs Ladies HUGGGGG
'Yesterday' is a beautiful song indeed Tues! Lady G, the Across The Universe video multiplies the power of the song by gazillions doesn't it! defies words.
Ah yes Lady T! Ia m glad we have a John Lennon thread too, I have tended to be more drawn ( still ) to the music of John Lennon in terms of the post Beatles stuff. thank you for posting the rooftop concert what an amazing moment, I mean I was not there obviously, not even born, but the footage is fab too! here is the whole concert, London had a gift that day! I love 'I've Got A Feeling' and 'Don't Let Me Down!'
Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream It is not dying, it is not dying
Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void It is shining, it is shining
Yet you may see the meaning of within It is being, it is being
Love is all and love is everyone It is knowing, it is knowing
And ignorance and hate mourn the dead It is believing, it is believing
But listen to the colour of your dreams It is not leaving, it is not leaving
So play the game "Existence" to the end Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning, of the beginning Of the beginning, of the beginning
With many artists I find this hard (as I'm sure it must be for you with the Beatles, Lula) but my favourite Beatles song is surely Day in the Life! That jangly guitar just hints at wistful sadness while the chorus refrain tumbles into a strange, affectionate manevolence almost! The whole thing sounds both spent and lively; like a trampolinist with a hang-over! Also, Ringo's sparse peculiar drumming is amazing and the lyrics mesmerizing and troubling and Gosh I Love It! Perfect, perfect song.
A 'Day In A Life' is The Beatles at their best I agree Sprocket, such an intelligent song too. Not to mention that climactic part that has been mimicked numerous times since, including a tiny little bit on The Sorcerer's Apprentice soundtrack, or at least in my mind, and to great effect I might add! thank you for posting!
Here There and Everywhere is so beautiful, I love it too Lady T!
I guess you could say this is a George Harrison song, but it is on The Beatles' 'The White Album' so I thought I would post it here! Lyrics are awesome.
I only knew yesterday and let it be from the beatles, but now I heard that song across the universe I must say I like that one to :). I also like the video from across the universe, very special!
