WOW! only a tiny part of this scene is on the film. I love this part of the back story. Very evocative with the chanting (is it the Gayatri Mantra?) and we get dialogue!!
Lol, didn't he just eva? and it was too short!! so this was a treat for that reason too!
I loved the whole back story, it has got to be hard for the director deciding how much to put in because a common film complaint is the backstory at the beginning is too long / unnecessary. In the case of The Sorcerer's Apprentice I could do with a whole other film just for that part!! Fan Fic anyone??!?
You are welcome Veronica and eva and Gina! lad you are enjoying them! all thanks to the youtuber and to voodoo child for posting the initial video really!
and Yes sooo handsome...
Eva, I agree! as you know the movie gave birth to this forum, creatively speaking!
I really enjoyed this deleted scene, that part of the movie just fascinated me, and I loved seeing Nic in the different era styles. Agree, Lula, the back story would make an awesome movie on it's own.
just a little interesting tidbit, I am assuming this is the young Buddha in this clip...while watching it i realised that this is a further wink to Nikola Tesla who cared for pigeons (we know that because Nic put the part in the movie where he heals the pigeon's leg as a homage to Tesla). Siddharta Budddha saved a pigeon which was shot by his cousin Devadatta and nursed it back to health .

You know Lula, you may be on to something. I think it may have been the initial shock of Nic playing a Sorcerer which thru some off. BUT, now that everyone knows he's sooooo darn good at 'being Balthazar', I think another go would be fabulous!
I truly enjoyed watching Sorcerer's Apprentice and would be totally hyped for a prequel!!!!!! We should write Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney!!
I doubt Disney would go for it, they just axed the Johnny Depp movie, The Lone Ranger, because of production costs, and I would think a movie like SA is very expensive to produce. I would love it, though.
Maybe it would have encouraged further dvd sales though lady T? I am guessing the idea of having the extra extras on the blu ray is to encourage people to buy blu-ray over dvd?
Lol, Budda is eternal...but yes, i guess balthazar isn't that old and historically that would mean travelling through time! I guess this young boy is an enlightened being one could call a buddha but not the Buddha most people refer too. any other ideas? the Buddha pigeon story still interests me ...i wonder if Nic knew about that link as well as the tesla one!
I meant I didn't think a prequel movie is likely, Lula, even though I think it is an awesome idea. I definitely think the same extra features should be on all dvd's, not just blu-ray!
The clip is dated Calcutta, 1840, anything extraordinary happen then, I wonder.
Lol! is mercury retrograde? i seem to be having communication problems and brain meltdown issues in this post! Oh I SEE Lady Trueheart!! Imagine how glorious a prequel it would be though!!!!! and I would love to see a sequel too!!
Hmmm... i wish i knew more indian history. I guess I dived into the vedic period a bit more heavily and I know I am ashamed to be British when i think of india's history. I think the Indian Rebellion came shortly after 1840 ?!! perhaps this young boy is not meant to represent any historical spiritual figure. Maybe he is a prince or emperor?
Yes, both would be wonderful, I love the story, it has infinite possibilities. Perhaps Cagealot Castle should start their own production company!
I am sadly ignorant of Indian history too, considering I had quite a few friends originally from different parts of India when I was working in Ontario, and I loved to hear them tell me about their country. It is a place I would love to visit someday. I think maybe the crowd is Hindu, but I am not knowledgable about deities or revered ones, which this young boy seems to be. The symbol on his forehead is so interesting, a question mark, I think. I find this scene fascinating, so much detail in it for such a short bit, and I love the atmosphere and Nic in his colonial oufit, awesome!
@ Lady T: Wow, I wasn't aware that the studios shot down a Johnny Depp vehicle!? Times are hard though.
My thinking though is, maybe if they tweaked the storyline a bit of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a prequel wouldn't be all that impossible?
I mean, if you look at the Batman and Robin series. Those movies sucked but the studios kept making them until they finally got it right with Chris Nolan's "Dark Knight" version. Though, one could certainly argue there was a lot of history with the Batman and Robin series to begin with.
What a wonderful scene! The colours are so beautiful, and Nic looks so magNICal and stunning! A real treat! Thank you for posting this fantastNICal, extended scene, Lula!
