This is great, Lula, thanks for posting it, I wonder when it was recorded. Anyone notice he is using his' Kyle' voice? Maybe i was done while he was filming 'Trespass'.'Justice' was filmed before 'Trespass', right?
Here is the weird thing, I am sure I have read this exact interview somewhere, and I would assume it was here, but I can't find it at all. Anyone else think that?
I'm guessing you might have read this interview here lady trueheart http://www.cagealotcastle.com/t45787916/nic-uncaged/ I,too, immediately remembered that I had read this before but it's always better to hear something straight from the horse's mouth,I think.
I agree his voice sounds a bit unusual. But as far as I remember,Justice was filmed in early 2010 and Trespass was filmed in September 2010.

Yes the interview you link to Voodoo child had a small bit of this in it, maybe the first sentence, but there is new footage here I think? to me atleast!
It is wonderful that Nic is still being challenged as an actor, and it sounds like he experienced a few new ways of working, in makingthis movie! amazing considering how experienced an actor he is and how many directors he has worked with!
Cannot say I am disappointed to hear about the many closeups...
"I signed up for the ride, I didn't know what I was gonna get with Roger, so whereever he wants to go I'm gonna do it. I may tease him about it, just as he teases me, but I am still willing to go to the outer regions if he's looking for something. And sometimes, honestly, after take 18, some new realization does occur. It's surprising, I didn't expect it, but it did. I think we've gone to some places together that are exciting. There are some things he's doing with the camera that I think are unique. He's using these tiny little cameras at times that give it more of a nervous energy to the scenes. We also have a great crew, we have a tremendous focus puller (?) who's able to go into extreme close ups with a 27 millimeter lens, and you see things, even down to the pupils things are happening, I find that exciting, I think Roger is cutting edge."
The part about the 18 takes made me think of Nic's role as Randy in Valley Girl, where each scene was shot in only one or maximum of two takes!
I am thinking it must be an interesting catalyst of the creative process to have that initial perhaps more instinctive and raw first version, but then experience how that changes and can subtly shift in more takes. It sounds like it was in the end a good experience for Nic as an actor. I wonder how that effected his 'process' that is not a process, that he has described as nouveau shamanic?

Yes, that nouveau shamanic. I'm thinking, regarding the 18 takes, that most of them were encouraged by the previous take, different inflections on words, even ad-libbing... You're right, the creative process - genius!
