Here is news of another new movie, have we posted about this one yet? Filming in June, it says. Great variety of movies Nic has in the works now, love the anticipation!
The drama marks the writing and directorial debut of producer Austin Stark, whose credits include "Infinitely Polar Bear."
Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the contemporary political drama The Runner for Paper Street Films and Back Lot Pictures.
The film marks producer Austin Stark’s writing and directorial debut. Over the past few years, Stark has produced and executive produced several indie films including this year’s Sundance hit Infinitely Polar Bear, starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana, and the Sundance 2010 Audience Award winner Happythankyoumoreplease.
The Runner will be produced by Benji Kohn, Bingo Gubelmann and Chris Papavasiliou for Paper Street and Glenn Williamson for Back Lot. Ruth Mutch, Noah Millman, Sam Bisbee, Tom Conigliaro and Erika Hampson are executive producing.
Production is scheduled to begin in June in New Orleans.
Set in the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill, The Runner centers on Colin Price (Cage), an idealistic but flawed New Orleans congressman who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal.
“For my first film as a director, I’m honored to be working alongside one of the finest living actors, Nicolas Cage,” Stark said. “The Runner, a contemporary political drama, is new and exciting territory for Mr. Cage. I have no doubt he’s going to deliver a powerful and poignant performance, as relevant as the film itself.”
Cage was most recently seen in David Gordon Green’s Joe.
He is repped by CAA, Mike Nilon at KLWGN and attorneys Jake Bloom and Patrick Knapp.
Stark is a partner at Paper Street, a New York-based film production and finance company. Back Lot is the company behind the Amy Adams-Emily Blunt starrer Sunshine Cleaning.
Really liking the sound of this! Filming starts June 23, so sounds like a definite! All these films are just coming out of nowhere ! Have to see which ones come to fruition. They were rumours of him being in Red Squad in August but unsure if this is happening.Of course already plans for Left Behind 2 and Outcast 2 and National Treasure 3!!!! Some projects may fall, but it seems our Cage is gonna be a very busy man!
