Nicolas Cage has become notorious in recent years for his oddball behavior both on and off the screen, but his latest interaction with a fan proves that behind that bizarre nature lies a big heart.

A Reddit user who attended a panel at SXSW honoring Cage's film career recounted a touching story about the actor, who spent 40 minutes answering fan questions -- far longer than the standard 15 -- once the session had wrapped. While Cage was "interesting, candid, and extremely kind to everyone who asked a question," wrote Redditor TheFanslator, it was the actor's response to one fan in particular that stood out.

"Nearing the end of the session, a woman stepped up to the microphone and said that she was one of his biggest fans," TheFanslator wrote. "She said she purchased every version of all of his movies whenever they came out. She even said she missed her flight home that day just so she could see him. Visibly touched by the comment, he offered to pay for her ticket home and helped her connect with one of his assistants backstage."

TheFanslator said that seeing Cage treat a complete stranger with such kindness made the Redditor an even bigger fan of the actor, and we're inclined to agree. Thanks for making our hearts grow three sizes today, Nic.

Nic is always such a generous gentleman! Stories like this is a, again, a proof, why Nic is just the BEST and it makes me even more proud, to be a NICster! But, something about this story sounds familiar to me! It is def. a great story, that shows the big heart of our Sir Nicolas!  knightGreat find, Enzo!

Sorry, for not being here for awhile. Just so darn busy with things.
Anyway, that was such a sweet story and what a wonderful man Nick is.
No other artist may have done that but hay, he's a special guy with a big heart!
No wonder he has many fans like all of us here and ME!
