LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/19/14 -- Catalina Film Festival (CFF) announces additional 2014 Festival honorees to be celebrated when the Fest takes over Catalina Island next week. On the 100 Year Celebration of Charlie Chaplin's legendary career and advent of his iconic TRAMP character, the festival will screen the TRAMP's first 1914 appearance in Kid Auto Races At Venice, and Academy Award™ winner, Nicolas Cage will be honored with the Charlie Chaplin ICON award prior to the screening of his film Left Behind on Friday, Sept. 26. This award is presented annually to an actor or filmmaker whose work embodies Charles Spencer Chaplin's qualities of realism, diversity and courage within his craft.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, Golden Globe™ nominee, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera, Shameless) will attend the Fest to receive the Avalon award, which honors an actor or filmmaker making waves within the Hollywood community by continually entering "uncharted waters" within their career and standing out from their peers.
2014 honorees include William H. Macy (Stanley Kramer "Social Artist" award); Andy Garcia (Ronald Reagan Great Communicator award): Jason Ritter (Catalina Crest award) and producer, writer and Academy Award nominee, Roman Coppola (Vanguard award).
Additional guests scheduled to attend include Jordin Sparks (Sparkle, American Idol); Danielle Fishel (Girl Meets World, Boy Meets World); Tamyra Grey (American Idol, RENT); Kristoff St. John (The Young and the Restless, Pandora's Box); Chris Candy (Bar America, Contracted); Cassi Thomson (Left Behind, Big Love).
