The deal was closed Thursday at AFM. Production will start in the first quarter in Las Vegas.
Siblings Alex and Ben Brewer are directing from a script co-written by Ben Brewer and Adam Hirsch. Story is centered on two crooked cops who discover a hidden safe, the contents of which will lead them down a deadly road of corruption.
The deal represents a continuation of Saban’s efforts to beef up its seven-month-old Saban Films following its acquisition of three titles at the Toronto Film Festival including “The Forger” and “Tracers.”
“The script for ‘The Trust’ was incredibly captivating and tells such a riveting story,” said Saban president Bill Bromiley. “Audiences everywhere will love Nicolas Cage in this role and it’s a great addition to the Saban Films portfolio.”
Bromiley and Ness Saban negotiated on behalf of Saban Films and Highland Film Group on behalf of the producers.
Molly Hassell and Braxton Pope are producing. The film is a Hassell Free Production in association with Electric Shadow Fund, which is providing finance. Mike Nilon will exec produce along with HFG’s Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier.
Highland Film Group is handling the worldwide sales for the film.
Remember that story about "fake" Nic Cage film at Cannes?! Well they all seem to be being made!
Those 'fake projects' include 5 Minutes to Live,Red Squad,Dark Highway, not this one . Actually I kind like this film,It feels like The Bad Lieutenant from the plot.
Sounds intriguing! Hope, they will make a proper promotion for it, and don`t treat Nic and the movie as bad as they did with the last ones! Looking forward to hear more about it! Great find, Lady T.!
