I have only read his more known poems,The Tyger, and The Lamb, I think. I just googled him, what an amazing life he had, and his art, his paintings, beautiful and profound. He needs a place in The Chamber of Arts, I think.
A sketch from Canadian 90s comedy programme Kids in the Hall, which I've really been getting into lately! There's just something winsome and delightful about the whole programme, it always cheers me up. Anyway, this one is about the king of empty promises!

OMG, do you guys get this in the UK! I used to watch this show faithfully, it still makes me laugh. It was considered pretty out there then. Thanks for posting, Sprocket, love it.
Whatever have I been missing in here?! A multi talented man Sprocket, thanks for sharing this, LOL!! That really did make me laugh!! Hilarious, and Erasure would have been proud! Which one are you, can't work it out from your post?!!Maybe when it comes to youtube stuff, you could both embed the video and put the link, with the tags either side to make it live? Then all bases are covered!
keep it coming!

haha thanks guys and I guess we both shout a whole deal so it is a little hard to tell! I'm Mordred, the shouty one who is not in drag! We had such a fun time trying to reach those high notes. That was the second performance, but by the third our voices were a sheer grackle-whisper! Not sure if I'm quite a Renaissance man... though if I'd been alive then I would have loved to have been an alchemist! :D
Wow! Now I will have an entire character to put behind the name Sprocket! Nice work Mordred, I was hoping it was you. although the guy in drag reminds me of someone and your duet was simply divine! Couldn't help noticing the academic looking building in the background, are you studying?

I was and shall again! I've completed my MA dissertation in film and literature (specifically Jan Svankmajer, who is a criminally unknown Czech animator), which went down well enough that I should expand it into a thesis, starting at the end of next year!
I want to bring animation into academia!
Actually Svankmajer's pretty funny himself in a queer sort of way:
Watching that, I think there was a whole level of meaning for me as a vegan that wasn't intended to be there, lol! An intriguing specialism Sprocket! I am rather conflicted about studying literature, elements of it destroyed not fuelled my passion....decided against taking up my place to do my MA after my lit degree (my area of interest at the time was the feminist imagination in science fiction..lol) and avoided studying film for the same reason! But reading you here, i feel a flicker of excitement at the gift of academia and it's depths of exploration...! Good luck with your studies and I hope plenty more outdoor theatre where that came from!
I think Lula requested that I upload some stand-up sometime, so I've recorded an audio version of a set I did about having OCD. It mostly works fine without the visuals, except for the end, which is bewildering without them, so it will seem like a very abrupt and strange ending indeed! Un-spoil the text at about 10:30 to reveal the ending! :D
Spoiler
I mime washing myself in the shower to the movements of the Macarena... washing the back of the left hand with soap first, then the back of the right hand with soap, then the front of the left, the front of the right, the shoulders, the head, the chest, the bottom, turn around, etc. In the set I just mime and don't explain it out loud too much, then the music cuts in when I've done one cycle of the "dance" with me looking sad and sorry for myself, desperately washing in time to the Macarena! Visually it's very funny, but it doesn't come across at all through audio, but enjoy the rest of it!
Also, don't take it too literally... it's heart-felt, but there are times when I am being ironic or provocative and it might not come across purely through my voice - the lil' OCD stuff and the Monk material especially!
ENJOY!
P.S. The file was a little big to directly upload, so I registered for a secure hosting site and have placed it there.
Sprockeeet! It's not working dear fellow! Unable to service this request and temporarily unavailable.... you are becoming the master of suspense! I must admit to a hankering for seeing the actions as well, perhaps this is a sign...youtube it has to be! no pressure though
Seriously, it's amazing you are sharing your talents, my computer is being very mischievos not letting me into the link...*le sigh*
Wah! Curse this fickle and tempestuous digital bugbear!
Since I haven't recorded the set live (I get nervous about taking cameras to open mic. nights), I only have the audio, which is what has prevented me from uploading it to youtube!
However! I shall find a solution! Tomorrow! After sleep! Yes! :D
