Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage will be the guest of honor at this year’s edition of the Halloween Charity Ball, to be held at Palatul Parlamentului on October 30 th . Cage is known for his philanthropic activities in support of the economically and socially disadvantaged. After playing an international arms dealer in the film Lord of War , he donated two million dollars to Amnesty International in 2006 to fund rehabilitation shelters, medical and psychological services for former child soldiers. Ovidiu Rom’s mission is to get every poor child in kindergarten and school – because children who start school later than their peers, never catch up academically. Fiecare Copil in Gradinita is a set of integrated measures that is currently making possible quality early education for 1200 severely impoverished children in twenty Romanian communities. Ovidiu Rom raises most of its funds through its annual October fundraising event, the Halloween Charity Ball at Palatul Parlamentului.

I agree Lady Trueheart, heartening to see Nic putting his star power behind such important causes, and always so wonderful to read of his charitable work. I wonder if this is a costumed ball and if so what he will go as...!
Princess visionary, i have been to much of Europe but not Hungary and I would love to visit, are you from there originally or just your parents? We can all send our good will and I'm sure our support will be felt!
Very cool news. I so hope it is indeed a masquerade ball, if only to see what Nic would dress up as! Oh....and I'm happy he does charitable deeds. It is in the giving that we receive.

His movies have had a huge healing impact on my life and I'm sure the lives of many, but his career enables him to step up and use his status to raise awareness and effect positive change in the world. I'm very glad, and proud to be a fan.
Lol, no pictures of Nic yet, but lots of news reports on last night's Charity Halloween Ball!

Oh! My God that's so G REAT! So many kids hurting and all what a Great thing to do! My boyfriend and I were recently on Pepsi-Refresh $50.000 reward for a cause, we were checking out pages of what causes pepsi paid out for and we nominated Teen Suicide Prevention, which we thought was a great cause to fight for, and it reminded us of this! Nic's really Great to do that for kids! And for future generations!
