Jon Turteltaub, I do love him, his interviews come across as funny and authentic and I see him as a bit of an alchemist when it comes to the movie world, bringing positivity fun and light to the world.
And there is definitely a lot of room for that in this world... and my world!
I only just found this interview, so interesting to read about his career and perspective....and a couple of things leap out at me!
Firstly I share his bewilderment at why people make their minds up before the movie and why the critics are all over him, yet the public love his movies.
Yes, this is a great interview, Lula, I enjoyed it very much. I was impressed by his humour and pleasant attitude when all the SA promotional stuff was going on. Seems like a very nice man. And I love what he says about Nic too.
No, I didn't see the Fantasia photos in the movie, I really am looking forward to owning this movie when it comes out so I can see all the little details one misses the first time around.
I didn't notice the Fantasia photos either, but not long to wait now until we can watch the movie over and over again obsessively, which I will be doing!
It's no secret I'm nuts about this movie..... And so much thought, imagination, energy and work was put in to create it by many creative and wonderful people... extra upsetting to watch the movie publicly trounced..in my mind unthinkingly and casually... When the vast majority of people, the actual movie going audience, LOVED it!
I guess it doesn't matter how long you've been in the business..when your hard work and something you have put your heart and soul into ( which Nic and Jon T and jerry B really seemed to ) is met with a luke warm reception it has to bring you down. And he is right...it doesn't make sense the movie was brilliant ...there is just that bash Nic and it seems Jon T movies bandwagon...is it a sad reflection on our society that we're only excited by a certain kind of movie?
Anyway.... How about the standout part:
Jon: Funny thing is he'd probably rather be directing at this point, he loves directing.
Peter: Really? That's something I didn't know.
Jon: Yep
They were having a laugh in the interview...was he joking??!
Lol! You tell 'em Lady True! I get the impression that won't be any time soon....the thing that sets Nic apart from other actors..one of the things..for me...is his thirst for exploration! It feels like the acting world becomes infinite then!
But you know, I'm just endlessly grateful for all the man has already given...which is alot! Wherever his creativity pulls him....that's the wish I have for everybody anyway. It becomes unhealthy when there is resistance to the flow so.....wherever that goes...but I am pretty keen to see him direct again...it strikes me a creative soul like Nic could go in so many directions..and he said in that interview when he answered the question about Sonny he would like to direct again if he had more time!
