It's Remembrance Day here in Canada, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we will be all standing together in silent memory of the men and women who served and fell to protect our countries. I am full of thoughts my father today, he was a proud veteran who served overseas during the Second World War. He died last year at age 88 and I miss him and think of him every day. Thanks Dad, I love you.
Just got back from the Remembrance Day Services at Mom's hospital. Couldn't let this day of 11/11/11 go by without a shoutout to all the men and women, including my mom and dad, who served and serve so bravely.
Take a moment to remember - and think of - all those who have made a difference in your family, your country, and the world.
my grandfather had to go to war too. such a stupid and unhuman thing. luckily he survived back then but he died last year at the age of 88. peace to the world!!!

My father served in the Korean War. I'm currently watching a program on the public broadcasting station titled "Civil War." The war which brought together our country in America. Quite heart wrenching actually.
All who serve, are so brave. Cheers to our brave soldiers, past and present. May we find civil world peace.
sorry I didn't replied on this yesterday, I feel very sorry for everyone who had to take part of a stupid war, my grand grand dad also was in it and he passed away a while ago. PEACE!

Thank you for posting Lady T. I didn't have a clue about it was Remembrance Day for Canadians and Veterans Day for American friends. I admired your people as brave and determined race. It's hard to find a thing more barbarous than war which turns out to be illegitimate by killing people in a legal way. I just watched the film 1911 (the Revolution of 1911) yesterday a gut-wrenching movie ....I admire thoes unsung heroes/heroines who have bled for their mother and healing her bleeding wound, I'd prefer to reserve my judgement though.
My grandfather served in Hawaii the day of the Pearl Harbor bombing, but was fortunate enough to avoid most all major conflicts. I have profound respect for all those who served.
Lady, I know you are calling war in general stupid and I agree, BUT I do disagree in calling WWII a "stupid war". Yeah the source and agenda of evil regimes was stupid, but I believe WWII was one of the few wars that were truly justified and ultimately was a great victory. It's sad that it takes such evil to united the world, but it shows that in dire situations the good will prevail.
That is the one war I feel confident in saying if it hadn't happen the world today would be much, MUCH worse.... I know... that might be hard to believe given everything going on today.
I know, what you mean, McClunger, and I agree with you on the WWII, but I also think, that the majority of the wars are just cruel and, maybe sometimes, unnecessary! Please, don`t me wrong, I, too, have respect for those, who risks their lives and fight for freedom and justice, but, when I think of all the innocent, that dies also in this wars, I really feel sorry for them and get mad, of thinking of the tyrants and evil politician, that causes the necessity of this wars!
My two granddads served in the WWII, and one of them, in WWI, as well.
