“Much has been said about how I always like to reinvent my look…or my hair. That just makes me want to do it even more,”
“My favourite actor is Lon Chaney. It was back in the day when film stars did their own hair and make-up. So, if I can change my hair, or the way I look, dress or talk, that’s my way ofharking back to what I hope would be like a Lon Chaney experience,”
I think he might have been getting a little tired of the comments when he went blonde, judging by how he waxed sarcastic about it in a few interviews.
I love seeing him doing new things, someone like Tom Cruise for instance, almost always looks like Tom Cruise, but Nic is so eclectric in his roles and portrayals.
The fact that the man is so eclectic is what turns me on about him. With him.....it would never get boring....Confusing? Maybe! But boring.....not a chance in Hades.

Eclectic and electric..and possibly eccentric, deep within those e's and c's we love our creative Nic!
For me too it is his eclecticism and the fact that within that rainbow spectrum, he is equally talented in each colour and shade! I think this is probably why I've remained a one actor woman...he satisfies with each note of the keyboard..and you are left breathless for more! Lol!
Back to the changing his look bit..well I guess it's inextricably linked..he really is extremely good at creating a new physicality for each character. Not just things like hair..i mean his whole posture..walk, facial expression....and that seems to come from the outside in...very amazing acting. Lol..i'm not sure if I've said this before but his Bad Lieutenant somehow brings to mind Columbo! No idea why..sorry went a bit randoy these.
LOL! I have no idea why Lady True! It's just there! Maybe it is something about the gait! And his uncanny crime solving wisdom (despite, in Terence's case, it being undersinned with crack and heroin use and not cigars!)
And yes...Terence... amazing physicality n'est pas? I thought that aspect of the performance was powerful, to portray someone living with a chronic injury and pain while doing all the other things..it's the unspoken element that enabled me to empathize with the character more.
Someone described his characters as almost comic cool caricatures, H.I from Raising Arizona, Peter Loew Vampires Kiss, come to mind, but they feel a bit more...abstract (?) in places physically than perhaps terence..although the movie Bad Lieutenant was quite surreal in ways i felt the physicality was more naturalistic? I don't know where I'm going with this..lol
I can see that about Peter and HI, I guess, and maybe Cameron, not sure. A caricature implies an exaggerated version of something to me, and I always think Nic is so sincere in his portrayals that they become believable. In fact I remove Cameron from that list!
Well, I like eclectnic a lot, it should definitely join the Cagealot Castle dictionary of Nic terminology! He is such an eclectnic, no one else like him.
