Woohoo! I've just listened to this and was about to post it Lady True!!
Awesome interview.... and probably the first extensive insight from Nic that we've had for Season Of The Witch! And much more besides..enjoyed the supernatural comments and about invisible forces!!
We should say of course, there is a liberal sprinkling of strong language in the preinterview run up which kicks in around the 7 minute mark.
He does sound a bit nasal... Could be allergies, my sinuses have been bad lately and everyone thinks i have a cold!
I've listened to this three times now, the Joblo guys sound like true Cagiacs, what a great interview and what lucky dudes!!
Nic sounds pretty relaxed in it, and really enjoyed his sense of humour about the whole wig thing. It is so yawn worthy how media stories can make it the headline not the movie! Notice the Lon Chaney comment?
Nic Cage opens up to the JoBlo Podcast about the fascination with his hair
"I will clarify for you that I don't wear a wig in the new version of GHOST RIDER. I'm not wearing a wig in DRIVE ANGRY. I did wear a wig in SEASON OF THE WITCH and SORCERER'S APPRENTICE. I did not wear a wig in KNOWING...."
In the 99th episode of the JoBlo Movie Podcast, Nicolas Cage was our scheduled guest. The podcast went up as scheduled last Monday but we were later asked by Mr. Cage's reps to hold the podcast, or more specifically the interview, until closer to when SEASON OF THE WITCH hits theaters in January (which is what Mr. Cage called in to promote). We happily obliged since Mr. Cage was such a good sport during the interview. Such a good sport that he was willing to let us tease this conversation about the fascination with his hair. To be fair, Mr. Cage brought it up is passing while talking about the new GHOST RIDER film to which Jim Law followed up with:
What is the fascination with your hair? The entire internet seems fascinated by it...
Nic Cage: "I don't know, I really don't get it. I can say that I'm not the only actor who has worn wigs in movies but for some reason they enjoy talking about it more with me. I don't wear a wig in real life but I do enjoy playing dress up with different characters but I do enjoy creating new looks, new wardrobe and styles with the hair. Sometimes I like to wear appliances like in DEATH FALL, the movie I did with my brother, I wore a nose that went out and then up. It's a Lon Chaney school of acting...you transform yourself. But I mean, film stars have been doing this forever. I don't really know where it comes from but if it makes them happy, go for it (laughs). You know what it is? I think it gives me a chance to come up with something and come up with a whole new look. I've done so many movies I want to try and give it a new look whenever I can. I want people to still be excited and lose themselves in a new character I've created. That character isn't really me so I have free reign to transform myself with hair or clothes. I don't always wear a wig in movies either. Sometimes they think I'm wearing a wig when I'm not and sometimes they think I'm not wearing a wig when I am. But I will clarify for you that I don't wear a wig in the new version of GHOST RIDER. I'm not wearing a wig in DRIVE ANGRY. I did wear a wig in SEASON OF THE WITCH and SORCERER'S APPRENTICE. I did not wear a wig in KNOWING....(laughs).I don't really get it! Now you get to be the one to put the story to bed but you know it won't....It'll just create more stories (laughs). But at least I can laugh about it with you. "No, Nic Cage doesn't wear a wig in public."
