That was really interesting, Lula, cool! I must say, I could see what he was saying about religious groups springing up around them if we did have super heroes. I am happy to live in world without them, comic books and movies will do. Loved the bit of Batman with the shark, lol!! And Superman too, I love the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeves, my favourite one ever.
I liked what he said about how we admire superheroes in fantasy but in realuty we judge and / or are afraid of difference and otherness (or atleast that is how i interpreted what he was saying!) i think he misses the point a bit, for me it is that we all have a superhero inside of us, not that we wish to worship someone on the outside!
One notion I've encountered is that superheros are the modern equivalent of Greek myths! Figures that provides epic archtypal narratives that pitch good against evil!
As for superheroes I love... I'm partial to Doctor Strange, myself - he's one cosmically minded quantum consciousness enducing superhero, alright! :D

Sprocket, Nic himself has said the same about the mythology of modern day superheroes. Agree with you about Dr Strange..out of curiosity, do you have a fave female superhero?
