I have lost count of the amount of Nic articles i have read this year mentioning how Nic has done 'over 60 fiilms' and one that mentioned over 70...but...................
exactly how many films has Nic done so far in his career??!!
By my reckoning 66, counting the ones post production, and the animated movies, and the two early ones he had small parts in, The Outsiders and Brubaker. I did not count the documentaries, do you think they count?
66 would be an appropriate number if it takes us up to Drive Angry and it's Hellish themes...seeing as it is a number associated (possibly incorrectly) with the 'dark side'.
I would only incolude the films that have actually opened Lady True and no, I persoanlly would not include the documentaries in Nics' artistic body of works!
63, if you don't include the ones he has made but not released. I personally, would include them as they are made, so therefore, in his body of work.
I am including Davy Crockett in that count, I think it is the same as an animated movie. But I have doubts about Best Of Times, since that was a tv show pilot, not a movie. If not included, that makes 62.
Wow..you are good at this Meg, I am really rubbish with numbers, but I hae become increasingly curious to know the exact figure the more these numbers get thrown around in interviews and articles.
I have this vague memory of Nic saying he had done 70 or over 70 in an interview in the past six months..but I really could have dreamt that..so don't quote me..it would be excellent to know how many Nic films there are according to Nic though!
I would like to know what he said, must have a look through some of the interviews. I am just counting the movies in our filmography here, Lula. You did all that work! One of the documentaries with David Lynch sounds like a little movie, are you familiar with it?
yeah, i was just tryng to get a bit of a convo going and see what peopole's thoughts were on which films they would include in Nic's filmography! Which documentary are you referring to Lady Trueheart?
I didn't put David Lynch's play 'Industrial Symphony No.1, The Dream Of The Broken Hearted' in the filmography which was perhaps an oversight on my part, I guess because Nic is only very briefly in it, perhaps i will add it in the Wild At Heart film archives entry..
I don't recall where I read about it, an article about David Lynch, I am sure; but I found a site selling and describing his work and it shows a documentary Nic was interviewed in about Lynch. For One Week Only: David Lynch. Maybe that was it, but it prob was the Industrial Symphony, I don't recall now.
For One Week Only: David LynchThe BBC Documentary. Extremely rare documentary originally presented by Jonathan Ross for the the BBC gives an in-depth and fascinating look at David Lynch the creator, filmmaker, storyteller, cartoonist, coffee drinker, smoker, and visionary. Includes rare behind-the-scenes study at the making of Lynch's art (including a look at the creation of Lynch's cartoon strip "The Angriest Dog In The World") and features fascinating interviews with Nicolas Cage, Dennis Hopper, Catherine "The Log Lady" Koulson, Jack Nance, Laura Dern, Jennifer Lynch, and Lynch, of course! Discussions of his films including the colossal failure "Dune", "TheElephant Man" and the award-winning "Wild At Heart". This is a unique glimpse of one of the true visionaries of our time. This rare collectible was purchased at auction, isOut of Print and has never been released commercially in the U.S. Considering the rarity of the item and the media source, the quality is very good and a pleasure to view!COLOR& B&W.1990 BBC. 51 minutes. Recorded from TV. Never released in the U.S.
I have no clue how many he's actually done except for what it says on IMDB......I just hope he keeps churning em' out and choosing projects that perk his own personal interests because I find his choices fascinating.

Wow, that is a very cool link to David Lynch stuff Meg, thanks!
I think it would be fair to say Nic is heading towards the 70 mark, especially with current unreleased works added into the mix!
that makes his yearly average seem far less actually, (Nic often seems to be criticized for making too many films) when you consder the length of his career?!
