Been doing a bit of reading on the Faust tale. I must have gotten my wires crossed. It seems he's not afraid of Gretchen but he knows she's a woman of virtue and for some reason I gleaned he hesitated before seducing her because of her goodness.....
Lula, I forgot to mention the singing in the scene, I love that part! It makes it such a quintessential Nic scene, if you know what I mean. And that little laugh when she invites him......
I have not read Faust, have vague memories of some references to him in school, but nothing concrete, so have never really thought about the story. I think the eternal female is supposed to be the female part of God in Catholic belief, not sure, just looked it up quickly.
So Gretchen pleaded for Faust's soul to be saved after she went to heaven and became part of the One God, male and female combined, maybe?
Lula, the car was a cream coloured Jag, and it was Nic and Alice's car! I love Jags, so no mystery there as to why I dreamt of one. You def were not my weird friend, that was a real person who I have not seen in years, no idea why she entered my dreamscape. I like the Captain Nemo interpretation myself for the underwater setting, lol! Too bad I didn't get to see his periscope this time.
