Budgeted at around USD25 million, according to the Anchorage Daily News,The Frozen Groundis based on the true story of Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen, who was active in the early 1980s. John Cusack is playing Hansen, with Nic Cage as an Alaskan State Trooper.

Producer Randall Emmett told the outlet he would be interested in setting up a more permanent base inAlaskasince the incentives restructuring in Michigan: “When a state gets an incentive at this level, like Alaska has, people now are going to really look to come here.”
The state offers filming incentives worth up to 44%, but is struggling to attract major productions. Last month it was confirmed that Zack Snyder’s new Superman film would double part of British Columbia’sVancouver Islandfor Alaska rather than travel further north.
