When I read the stats on this movie. I couldn't help but wonder, due to the subject matter, is it going to be shot as more of a documentary and informative, or is it going to be dark and creepy?  Perhaps a bit of both?

The financiers and exec producers have been announced for upcoming Nic film, Frozen Ground. In relation to our discussion, this article is calling Frozen Ground "a fact based thriller"

Toronto: Emmett/Furla And Envision Set $250 Million Film Fund

Emmett/Furla Films, a company that has been growing more ambitious in the film financing and production arena, has teamed with Stepan Martirosyan and Remington Chase’s Envision Entertainment to establish a new $250 million revolving equity and debt fund to finance a new slate of star-driven commercial films. The fund was announced as EFF principal Randall Emmett comes to Toronto to make deals on films that include the Allen Hughes-directed political corruption drama Broken City, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe, and Frozen Ground, the fact-based thriller about a serial killer in Alaska which will star Nicolas Cage and John Cusack. Nic brings a reality and a kind of empathy to those types of characters, even Yuri, I think. In Face/Off the care he took of his brother seemed to me to make the character more dimentional, rather than just a caricature.

I think if I was an actor I would not want to play a truly horrible character myself, I wonder how it affects you. And imagine if you played Nurse Ratched, for example, would you always be associated with the role? Didn't Nic turn down a role of some kind, Hitler or somebody like that, once?

Deadline reports Vanesa Hudgens has been cast to star alongside  Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in thriller Frozen Ground. The article also contains new plot and production deets:

"In a departure from her High School Musical past, Vanessa Hudgens has been set to star alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in The Frozen Ground, the Emmett/Furla Films thriller that is being sold here in Toronto, with Voltage Pictures handling international sales. The film, which will begin shooting October 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, marks the feature directing debut of Scott Walker, who wrote the script.

Pic is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is playing Hansen, regarded in the community as a respected family man. In the span of 12 years, he abducted more than 24 women, flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, and hunted and murdered them. Hudgens will play the one teenage victim who escaped. When she returned to tell her story, nobody believed her. Cage will play the Alaskan State Trooper who finds her on the street. Together they work to bring Hansen to justice.

The Frozen Ground is being produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla, along with Amber Entertainment’s Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky. Envision Entertainment’s Stephan Martirosyan and Remington Chase, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and executive producers.

Ohhhh!!!  Sounds titilating!!!  I wonder if Nic's going to have to alter his appearance in any way - i.e. mustache, lighter or heavier build?  Especially since he's playing a real life character.  Though, does anyone know if the officer Nic played in World Trade, was that thin?  A few of my friends who were extras on World Trade Center, said that Nic was extremely thin during the filming.

Though, I watched an old David Lettermen clip from 2005 (David Lettermen is a late-nite talk show host), and David actually asked Nic about his then thin frame, and Nic said he wanted to get his body to look like a cobra, as he had seen one in Africa while on Safari.  So he was running literally 7 days a week! 

I love it!!!  CLASSIC NIC!!!!!

 Lady T, you are so awesome!!  Thank you for this pic!  Nic has definitely gained weight since this pic.  I'm not sure if you would agree but I don't mind his weight in this pic.  He still looks delicious!!  I must say though, I really do like his weight now.  He looks fit and healthy.  Though he has always maintained a masculine and delicious physique. 

Good point flo, 50 Cent has a massive profile too, some mega stars this movie! I enjoyed 50 cent's performance in Get Rich Or Die Trying.

I know very litlte about Alaska too Lady T, I remember a member from cagefactor called Anchorage Babe (Sam) who met Nic there once, atleast i think it was there! so he must have visited before. The landscape is meant to be beautiful and unspoilt, hopefully the scenery there will have a claming effect during the filming which could get quite harrowing considering thw subject matter. Hope Nic takes his moon boots!
