I highly recommend 'Adaptation The Shooting Script', not only for the thrill of reading such an original and acclaimed complete script, but it also has a wonderful foreward from Susan Orleans whose book 'The Orchid Thief' appears as the main character of the movie , an interview with Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze, a critical commentary from Robert Mckee and 24 black and white movie stills.
IT so is eva, worthy of a place in any Nic fan's collection.
A couple of things leap out at me today, how NICe it is to read Charlie's rambling soliloquys on paper. the picture of Spike Jonze holding a page of the script, scrumpled and scrawled all over. And it fell open at this page of the Q&A interview with Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman at the end:
Charlie Kaufman: I'm interested in things. I'm interested in people and how they interact and, if I ever do it well, then it's interesting. it's not about FX or pyrotechnics or a string of gags for me---even though I like stuff like that---I'm more interested in the people there.
