The Charlie Kaufman helmed musical movie Frank or Francis is still not confirmed, nor that Nic will be in the project ( fingers crossed! ) but this plot outline from BeingCharlieKaufman.com from someone who claims to have seen the script certainly makes for an intriguing premise! (warning: Potential Spoilers!) "Frank Arder is a director who is touring with his current film, You, an ensemble drama in which he plays all the roles. Francis Deems is an online blogger who hates all films and especially Arder's. Eventually Arder signs up and they argue but then a woman steps in to the argument, Habitat. Through online conversations Arder and Habitat fall in love. Even though they both claim to be people they aren't. All the while there is a robot head, Robert, that is being programmed to write a script based on everything good in any movie, ever. [...] There is also a character referred to as emcee, who hosts the oscars at the beginning but his career is going downhill so he is looking for help to breakout of his known role as "Fat Dad." Everybody sings and it is undeniably a work of the Mr. Charles Kaufman. I could say more but I don't want to give anything away. Good heavens, it sounds really intriguing! I would love to know which role is to be Nic's, if it comes about. It would be a really interesting departure from his latest films. __________________

when the rumour first hit I ws thinking Nic would play Frank the film director, who in turn i figured is a kind of Charlie Kaufman figure witin the story, but then perhaps that would be a little close to Adaptation? From Steve Carrell and Jack Black I assumed JB would play the blogger but it would be interesting to see Nic in that role too. I have to say, as someone who runs a Nic appreciation website, it makes me curious to see this story about the evil blogger who tries to destroy the director's career! there are plenty of bloggers out there who write such negative crap and I cannot fathom for the life of me why anyone would want to do that! __________________

Well, possibly JB as Fat Dad, just cause he is not as slender as the others, but I see him more as the director, for some reason. Yesh, blogging is like columnists used to do years ago, I think, when they had so much influence. Think it goes to their heads. __________________

Kevin James In Charlie Kaufman's FRANK OR FRANCIS? by Todd Brown, August 5, 2011 11:30 AM Charlie Kaufman's sophomore directing effort Frank Or Francis already has quite the high profile cast with Steve Carell, Nicolas Cage and Jack Black attached and it may be getting one more fairly big - and quite unexpected - name. According to The Playlist, who have read the script, there is a part in the film for Kevin James to play - in true Being John Malkovich style - Kevin James. He would appear as the star of a film within the film titled Obese City as well as appearing as a presenter at the Academy Awards. The fact that James is in the script, of course, doesn't mean that James will be in the movie and my hunch is that if he is we would have heard by now. And given that he's the same body type as Jack Black ... well, there's no reason at all that role couldn't simply be adjusted for someone else. It's all speculation at this point, of course, but it's nice to hear that Kaufman hasn't abandoned his meta-ways. __________________
