Yes, I agree, both those movies were extraordinary, and suspenseful, this one should be even more so, by the sounds of it.
Nic can play just about any role, I figure, I just racked my brain to think of something I think he would not be good at, nope, couldn't think of anything!
Yes, and I think Falling Down was mentioned at the press conference too..another great suspense thriller.
Lady T, I think it would break my brain trying to think of a role Nic couldn't play..and enhance...steam coming out my ears and everything...
I really enjoyed hearing Joel Schumacher (and the interviewer) talk about Nic as an actor! I wish perhaps that the interview were longer, I am always interested in what Joel Schumacher has to say. He is interesting to listen to.
That was one of the best interviews yet. I agree Lula, I wish it were longer. Joel seemed so unguarded with his answers. I love that about him. I think Nic made the right decision for himself in the end, in selecting to play the hero. From what I've seen so far, Nic is amazing, and his energy is what truly is driving this movie. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Another really interesting interview! Some stand out lines for me:
'Film doesn’t really belong to the critics anymore, it belongs to the world. Which is exactly where it should be, because we shouldn’t be making films for critics, we should be making films for the people who are going to go see them.'
'With Nic, you never know what you’re going to get. Nic is a very spontaneous actor. Nicole is like one of the really fine theater actresses. She’s really precise in planning, but then is really spontaneous when she does it. But every detail of what she’s going to do is planned. (Robert) De Niro is very much like this, also. So they are very different styles, but very similar professionally. They are never late, ever. Nicole takes 25 minutes in hair and make-up, which she is so proud of and brags about it all the time. She should, the guys take longer. They always know their lines, they help the other actors.'
You know, off topic about Nic for just a second... I love how Joel in the interview spoke of how someone in that position, faced with home invasion, would not know what to do and how they would react.
I experienced a home invasion this year while at home. I have gone to self-defense classes, have spoke of what I would do if I were ever faced with this situation, etc.
But, when it actually happend, panic set in and all I could say, was "HELLO!!!" after the person had gotten thru my front door. Luckily that scared them off but Joel is right, you just don't know what your reaction will be!!!!!
I had a situation where I was in a shared house abroad and someone climbed up the building onto the balcony throught the window and robbed us while we were asleep. t was terrifying to know we had slept through it becaust they left weapon behind presumably by accident..so what would have happened if we awoke : (
Anyway..another wonderful in depth interview with Joel Schumacher here!
Here is Joel schumacher being interviewed by Craig Fergson, who I have liked since he gave Nic the 'Flaming Skull Award' and declared he is a true Nicolas Cage fan (as he also does here!)
Hilarious interview and most enjoyable. Mr. Schumacher is an interesting character seeing as though they barely spoke of the movie he was on to promote!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! I was going to stay up and watch that but I didn't make it, so I am glad to see it here! What a hoot he is, and I love Craigy, he is so funny. I did love that interview with Nic he did, he is a true fan, go craigy, go craigy! And it is so true what he said, too.
Glad you both enjoyed it Gina and Lady Trueheart! Craigy Ferg always seem to me like someone wearing a too tight suit, metaphorically speaking! he just oozes kinetic energy, it's like he needs to let all that creativie energy loose somehow!
Here is an interview where Joel actually talks about the film!
Yes, that didn't escape my attention either Lady Trueheart, he is able to be honest and authentic as well as graciously not colluding with what was, in my view, an unnecessary or inapprpriate question.
I enjoyed hearing about the safe atmosphere and allowing actors space to create, and how Nic and Nicole raise the bar very high. He really sheds light on just how talented these actors are and how hard it is just to switch it on as awesomely as they do!
