Just went to www.imdb.com and there is a post about Nicolas officially being cast in Black Butterfly and will staring shooting in early 2012, which I hope doesn't conflict with him filming Frank or Francis. CLC

So, tess has some pics on her website from a photo agency showing Nic arriving in Berlin, Germany today!! I am guessing this means the movie is getting started! I am excited to hear more about this movie, it is so interesting, what little we have heard.

Here is a link to a google translated article about Nic in Germany. Mostly the same things we have already seen. I am posting it because of the last paragraph. I am hoping it is not true, but have not found any other information about this so far. Disappointing, but maybe it means the Frank or Francis movie takes precedent.

Nicolas Cage's new movie "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" will start on 23 February in the German cinemas. Nicolas Cage was modified for the action film "Stolen" and the thriller "The Frozen Ground" in front of the camera. However, he has his involvement in the film "Black Butterfly" next to Veronica Ferres canceled.

Thanks for the update Lady Trueheart flowerface we will have to keep our ears open for more news on this one! I guess there are only so many projects that Sir Nicolas can do in one time. for me personlly, if it came down to a choice between the two, the Kaufman project would be my preference, but this did sound like an interesting premise!

Hmmmm... According to IMDB, Frank and Francis is already in pre-production.  But The Black Butterfly hasn't begun production yet.  It also shows the two movies being released in different years.

I agree with you, Flo! I think, as "black butterfly" is another thriller, "frank or francis" would be the better choice! :)

Can we now say for sure Black Butterfly is a no go... has anyone heard or read anything on the film? I have been updating our filmography and I think this one sadly has to be removed as a possible future project for Nicolas!

I agree with Lady Roxanne that Frank or Francis is a better choice than Black Butterfly. I am really hoping Nicolas gets out of this dark place in doing thrillers and does a family comedy along with Frank or Francis. Too bad Time Share isn't still in the works that paired Nic with Will Smith.....a family type comedy in which the overview script remided me of The Great Outdoors a bit with John Candy. I hope Nic can be at a happy place sooner than later. CLC

I agree with you, clc. I think, in order to keep the balance between drama/thriller/horror and comedy, he should def make a comedy again!

this article says that he does definately not do the movie. even himself stated that in an interview!! very sad.

I will definitely take your word for it Flo even though I can't read german - LOL!

That's too bad although isn't this the movie where Nic talked about he was set to star in a film only to find out that the guy he was playing - his background was quite shaky?  Or was that another project?
