Yes, and it gets disgustier every time. But, I think, that is a symbol of his slowly venturing into madness. That poor pidgeon! All the feathers on the ground!

I agree with you both Lady Arwen and powermad, but this film has got longevity and stands today still as an entirely unique and awesome movie, that some people are now discovering for the first time!
thankfully no pidgeon was harmed in the making of the movie lady A!
hmm.. let's talk about that scene in the nightclub where he finally "becomes a vampire"..
for me it was a real tension between this horrific act and the humour of ths guy in his plastic fangs, was it real was it hallucination... but it was a powerful turning point...
but suddenly in the reality of the club and the other people there, and then out on the streets of New York. by contrast we realise just how unwell Peter loew is and the film takes on a heavier tragic tone
How he wanders through the streets like one of this crazies, begging everyone to kill him. Till he finally kills himself in his madness. That isreally the saddest part.

the scene as he wails throught the streets adn talks to the wall is harrowing..it actually hurt to watch and yet...even during this it is still, disturbingly, darkly humourous....
agreed lady A, i think the whole film is for the individual to receive and interpret for themselves, as with all art! but we can all agree that the creators did a fantastNIC job!!!
