I noticed last night for the first time that you get a clue that he is waking up to a new life. He goes to sleep clean shaven and when we see him wake up he has a nice stubble going on.
I keep feeling Kate's confusion and shock when he doesn't come back, how that would feel!
agree with you Lady A! Nic's acting is staggeringly transcendent in places in this movie....for someone who is often coined an 'over the top' actor, and in a fantasy film, he brings such a moving realism...
I got the impression, that she first didn`t realise, that it was the "other" Jack. She keeps wondering about his strange behavior, and, when he disapears, then she gets worried and start alerting everyone, to look for him.

In that moment, I really felt sorry for his character. The moment, were he realise, that, there is no fast solution to this situation. That, he is beginning to think, that he is trapped there, with no way out. Or, at least, with no way, he can see at this point.

Well, she acts, as if he is still "her" Jack, even if he acts kind of weird, and not like he used to, for her. That`s the impression, I get, by watching her reactions toward him.

Lol, Kate must have wondered if jack is having a midlife crisis when he starts to freak out in various places...... only Annie seems to realise that she has a replacement Jack for a Daddy "you're not really my dad are you" and Annie is the only person Jack fully confesses to "no i'm not, I work on wall street, you know with the big buildings.......this isn't my life, it's just a glimpse"
She thinks, that this "Jack" is an alien, or at least a "copy, made by aliens in their mothership". This such a really sweet scene, like in your avatar, Lady T. :)

It is a lovely scene, that child and Nic interacted so well. She helps him, gives him instructions, and he is so cute when he is totally at a loss! The way he holds the baby at the day care centre, lol!
And i think that this is the best part of the movie for me, Jack slowly adjusting and al the little family things happening around him, feeling part of it slowly.
Well, I know that, the director said it on the audio commentary, Lady T. Because, that sounds familiar to me, too. But, I don`t know, if that is also written somewhere.

yeah that is very cute, when Annie asks if he knows how to make chocolate milk and he says he could probably figure it out, then they become a team!
i love that transition from believing he has everything he needs to seeing that he may have had all the money he needs to buy whatever he wanted, but beneath all that is perhaps in the end a far deeper emptiness..that begins to be filled with those priceless things he begins to experience with Kate and the children and his glimpsed life....
