Yes indeed, that was really thrilling! I am still really excited about it, it was one of the best Nicolas Cage moments for me. I asked several questions, also posted a thank you at the end, but doubt if they show up in the transcript. He did a lot of fast typing there, bet his hands are sore now!

I love this reply:

I am not currently writing a book about that. I'm at work no something else. I was invited to go to Ireland to have a Q&A with a group of thespians about this concept, but the truth is, like Brian Bates said, everybody who's an actor is already there; they just don't know it yet. This style, if you will, or programme, is really teaching how not to act, and how to utilise your dreams, power objects, even taking weekends to experiment with imagination and finding ways of infusing your performances with those experiences so that it's no longer acting but truth. Acting implies lynig in some way -Olivier said as much in his autobiography/ And I don't want to lie. Thankfully Sean Penn said that
Nicolas Cage is no longer an actor, and that's what I want. I want to find a way to make it more truthful. This style is stimulating your imagination to be more truthful in the words and the movements.

Just reread it again, it really is great! So many things to think about there. I enjoyed the list of directors he felt got the most from him, and what epic roles they were too; Leaving Las Vegas, Wild At Heart, Valley Girl, Face/Off, Bringing Out The Dead, Bad Lieutenant, the upcoming Ghost Rider! All magnificent performances.

Lady Arwen, congratulations on having your excellent question answered by Nicolas! I just read it and it is a really thoughtful and insightful reply. I am thrilled for you, what an exciting day!
