Well, Lula, Catherine Keener played opposite Nic in 8mm, and she is in the somewhen upcoming "the croods" with Nic. And, she played also in "the 40-year old virgin" and in "Being John Malkowich" (which, as you know, was also written by Charlie Kaufman.)

As if the line up for Charlie Kaufman's Frank or Francis was not already exciting and impressive, Vulture reports Kate Winslet and Catherine Keener are joining the cast!
WOW! That`s great news! Two lucky ladies, who will have the honor and opportunity, to play opposite Nic in that movie! Both are great actresses! Thanks for posting it, Lula!

I am more familiar with Kate Winslet's work..she was great in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (one of my favourite 'NN' films) which was written by Charlie Kaufman..and in other relevant connections, she was of course in The Life Of David Gale, whcih was directed by Alan Parker, produced by Nic..and starred in The Holiday alongside Jack Black...
oh my..so she did Lady A! lots of connections there too then! (Being John Malkovich is another of my all time fave NN films, but I must admit I had forgotten she was in it! 8MM no excuse!) Hollyweird is a small world...
Those are good news! winslet, Black, Keener, Cline, Carrel and CAGE sounds almost like the cast for the expendables just in a different genre.
LOL! love how you put it flo ! an strikingly EPIC cast it has to be said..a thrilling prospect is turning into a potentially stand out film of all time!
I absolutely love Kate Winslet!!! I hope we will see some scenes with Kate and Nic together. I cherish my copy of "The Holiday" starring Kate. She was soooo wonderful!
I was just thinking the other day that Kate Winslet is a wonderful actress and what a shame it is that she and Nic have never been in a movie together.Coincidence? Anyway, this is SO cool! Nicolas starring in a musical with my favorite actress... it is a dream come true!!!!
I love Kate Winslet too, she is a wonderful actor, plus she takes risks and doesn't always stay with the tried and true. Catherinne Keener I am not so familiar with except for 8 MM, and she really didn't have much impact in that one for me. I think she does lots of indie roles, so she is interesting in that fact. And now Elizabeth Banks and Pau lReubens are joining the cast! I like movies with strong female characters so this one is very interesting to me, besides, of course, the NIColicious factor!
Just yesterday Charlie Kaufman added Kate Winslet and Catherine Keener to his next directorial effort, Frank and Francis. The casting is a reunion of sorts, as Keener previously starred in Being John Malkovich (and had a small role in Adaptation), while Winslet played the female lead in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - all films based on Kaufman scripts. Today he's added yet another actress to his cast, though this one will be working with the writer/director for the first time.
THR has learned that Elizabeth Banks has signed on for a part in Frank and Francis. In addition to Winsley and Keener, the film is set to star Jack Black, Nicolas Cage, Steve Carell, and Kevin Kline. The film is a musical about Hollywood in which Black plays an online film reviewer who regularly abuses a pretentious-yet-successful director played by Carell; Cage plays an actor named The Emcee who is best known for starring in "high-concept" films; and Kline plays a dual role as the director of the biggest film of all time and his own twin brother, who has been turned into an anamatronic head that comes up with marketable script ideas. Though the trade doesn't give her character a name, Banks will play an actress who is best known for starring in crappy comedies and happens to be having an affair with Carell's character.
It's really impressive how big Elizabeth Banks has gotten over the years. While she started her career as a character actress, this year alone she has high-profile roles in movies like The Hunger Games, Man on a Ledge, and What to Expect When You're Expecting. Banks is one of the few actresses that can balance comedy and drama really well, and she truly deserves all of the success that she's having.
This article confirms Elizabeth Banks, Catherine Keener and Paul Reubens, but also says that Kate Winslet is not going to be in the film? that would be tragic!
Yes, too bad, but it seems this is one of those movies with so many rumours and unconfirmed catsings it is not really surprising. Would be a great pairing though, Winslet and Cage!
