I stumbled across this interview with Norwegian celebrity artist Unni Askland this morning:

http://www.independent.com.mt/news.asp?newsitemid=138812

I didn't realise she had included Nic in her artworks, here is ias part of her 'Big, Big, Big' Silk Screen collection, which also includes Charlie Chaplin, Elvis and James Dean.

It seems especially appropriate to choose Nic's character Sailor from Wild At Heart for her Warhol-esque style of art, and the quote in the background for the piece, as Nic himself said in the Empire Webchat last week:

"Wild At Heart was more my "Andy Warhol performance" than my Elvis performance, and what I mean by that is that – and I have to go back to a book by Stanislavsky called An Actor Prepares here – where he put forth the rule that you must never imitate anybody while acting, which I understand, but rules are made to be broken.

And I wanted to put this to the test. So I thought about Andy Warhol, and how he in his art would take pop icons and make poster art pieces with these famous faces. Having also been a believer in art synthesis - in other words, what you can do in one form, you can do in another – and I was excited by the idea of breaking Stanislavsky's rule and give an Andy Warhol performance by overlaying Elvis's aura on the film Wild At Heart".

It certainly has that pop art sensibility, doesn't it? I would hang it on my wall, without a doubt, I like it a lot. The colours are really hot and smoky, reminds me of the movie.

cool thought about the  colours Lady T, I can see that when you say it! which surprises me because when I think of Wild At Heart I always think or red or bright pink, because or Lula...or flame colours because of the visual leitmotif throughout the film. but these colours work on that less obvious but symbolic level ...of the heat and dustiness of the road ...and the endless cigarettes... and Sailor's jacket...
