It is probably way premature talking about a third movie..but i was surprised this hadn't been picked up on and circulated more, in light of comments on it from both Nicolas and the directors!
With Nic's idea for the premise of the ghost rider actually going into hell ( I pray to rescue Milton.... ) ...there is a third film (atleast) there waiting to happen ...Mark Neveldine seemed up for it ! and why indeed not? of all the genres, it seems, the comic book genre is ripe for sequels,,and you dont have to think too hard to recall other comic book film trilogys! and spin-offs and prequels! there are limitless possibilities...
So.......to add water to this trilogy seed.....here is hoping that it will grow it to some rampant wild psychedic i tree..... it looks like Ghost Rider 3 may well be on the cards!!!!!!
"There's been talk about [a sequel]," Neveldine told us in a recent interview, in regards to taking meetings with Sony. "I know Nic[olas Cage] wants to do it, he's very pumped about it. We'll just to see how well [this] does." It does seem like the duo has developed a strong rapport with Cage, their original choice for the character of Chev Chelios in "Crank," giving him the the room to fully utilize every tool in his acting arsenal. "He's such an incredible force," confirms Taylor. "When you've got a weapon like that, you don't want to leave anything on the table."
Obviously this talk was prior to the movie opening. The 2007 Ghost Rider opened to around $45 million. This time around, the 2012 Ghost Rider opened to around $25 million.
However, as I've countlessly argued with my co-workers at work, that's not a 'fail'. According to Sony, regarding the 2012 Ghost Rider, when they orginally released the production budget, it was set at $75 million. However, they mistakenly switched the numbers, which was meant to say the budget was actually $57 million. Which means, the movie has already make half its money back in 4 days - THAT'S HUGE!!!!!!
If this annalogy is used, I could certainly see a 3rd Ghost Rider in the works.
Now that Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance has been a huge hit in the international box office, a third film could be a real possibility!
And now we are weeks on from the film opening (6 weeks and 3 days to be precise) and many people will have now seen it, let's talk about that third film, the possible direction it could take!
so ..be warned if you read on, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!! I am not even joking, if you have not seen the film stop reading now!!!

The ending of GR:SOV certainly paved the blue flaming way for another film! For me the ending was unbelievably exciting and tantalizing, as Johnny, after many years of struggle, having rid himself of the 'curse' for the first time through a successful exorcism, with a sense of inevitability and it being his inescapable fate, ended up once more being possessed by the spirit of vengeance to save Danny...but this time.........he felt the angel within...and the blue flames from his skeletal hand revived Danny from what looked like certain death.
John Blazes' final lines of the movie, in response to Danny's "Did we win?" were, "I'm gonna say yes, hell yes" (hope that is right, need to see it again, brign on the dvd!) and you know that those lines are not just referring to the present victory, but to the awakening of the angel Zaranthos inside Johnny... And as he rode off on his bike at the very end, those flames were electric blue.......
