The song seemed so perfect for Nic and they played the original version at the end of the BAFTAs the other night (this is the Skrillex remix) and suddenly the need to make a tribute gripped me.
Flo, I don't have any special programmes just used windows live movie maker, and def no skills or experience, have never done this before! Really great fun to do...so absorbing.... but it is far from perfect or how my vision would like it to be!
Well Done, Lula! You pick the best song with this too. I love how you put all Nick's films that matched in places with different films. At the fast part in the music. So Cool! I think you did a wonderful job for your first time. I love it.
Oh wow, that was a wonderful treat to come home to, I love it! It looks quite professional, I must say, Lula, and so well put together. You must have put a lot of thought into the placement of the pictures as they go so well with the lyrics and the tone and tempo of the music. I have never heard that song before but it is just perfect for this! The lyrics, amazing how they fit so well. That is truly the best tribute video to Nic I have ever seen, and I mean no disrespect to anyone else's, I have seem lots I like, but this one just speaks of your pure and sincere appreciation of Sir Nicolas Cage!
Thanks for making such a beautiful fan video, it is inspiring.
I'm chuffed you like it, your opinions as ultra Nic fans mean much!
that is high praise Lady T, I have seen far superior ones tecnically, but your kindenss is felt thank you! glad you feel inspired..maybe this will spark an an ignoreable creative pulse in you guys to make your own tributes, just as that song did for me!
It is vaguely chronological, with poetic license, most of Sir Nicolas' movies are here with only a very few exceptions !
I like those bits too Nancy, and the badass dubstep bits with the action films! The fast bits are a bit out of synch, it is kinds tricky to get just right and if you adjust something early on in the sequence the whole rest of the sequence is effected, i guess that is what took the most time!
An awful lot of love went into it Lady T! I tried to finish it for valentine's day as a gift to all my cagealot friends! but it took hours longer that i imagined!
Nicolas Cage IS a cinema, where you experience an unmatched breadth and depth of genre and also style..and why would you want to venture beyond the work of the best actor ever!
For anyone interested, here is the original song with lyrics!
Now that I have seen Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, I need to re-do this video!!!
Out of curiousity, is there anything that has been brought to cinema tha Nic has not yet done? any genre or kind of film that is an obvious gap in his filmograpy? when making this i was thinking, not!
No Nic musical so far Roxy, but fingers crossed for upcoming Frank Or Francis!
Nor has he done an outright western or outright horror, althougb elements of those in other movies! and how about a silent movie? I think an actor like Nic, who is capable of saying so much without dialogue would be perfect in a silent move, now The Artst has reopened that door... in fact i think there should be a Peter Loew dedicated silent black and white movie....would also love to see him in a black and white crime noir ....as well as that, but not a straight up one, but one with sci fi elements to it....and definitely a time travelling character who visits new lands and other planets!
Love the silent movie idea, combined with Peter Loew it would have that creepy horror movie vibe. Like Nosferatu. And, if he ever gets to make The Ring with The Wicker Man element that would fulfill the horror movie requirement for sure! But isn't Wicker Man a horror movie in it's own right?
Film Noir would be my choice, I would love that.
And I am just reminded of this thread from awhile back! It was a really enjoyable conversation too! Fun to revisit and ties in here.
