As a fan of Nicolas Cage, how would you define your "fandom" world? For example, "fandom" became my family after meeting several fans loving Nicolas Cage as an actor which is same as mine. Try another meaning of "fandom" for you! =))
I need your answers before March 13 @ 8PM (+8 GMT) to blog it out on my own blogging radio site. Remember, this is my very 1st episode. And I'll be mentioning credits after your answers has been announced. Hurry Up!!!
T/N: Decide what name are you going to put on your credits. Don't share your family name. Ok?

I think I am a dinosaur Reggie, I dont understand it at all Is it a game? Thank you for posting!
First of all, that is a question. Second, I think I'm gonna edit that post right now. Seems you're having difficulties in understanding my question. Third, I am very very sorry for my mistakes again.
Wow! go away for a day and come back to discover you have your own radio show, Reggie?! how cool! you kept that one quiet! can you link us up? what radio show id this for, is it related to fandom in general or to being a Nicolas cage fan?
On the question of being a fan, you may wish to look at this forum topic "As A Fan" especially my last question! I am happy for you to make any mention of my answer, but obviously you will need the permission of any other member my have posted their answers.
What does being a fan mean to you? what does it involve? what doesn't it involve? For example do you feel you have to watch a certain number of films per week, do you have to have seen Nic's entire filmography, do you need to join a fan site, do you need to have Nic's autograph or collect every piece of memoribillia!
I was talking to Gina a little about this today and for me it is all about honouring and celebrating the work of a great actor and the characters he brings to life, about exploring that in as many creative and inspiring ways as poss and being inspired! that is all. i have no hankering for autographs and memoribillia, but as founder of Cagealot Castle I love to have an outlet for my passion and to meet others with the same adn to share and have fun with it! I always watch several Nic movies a week because i am addicted to them and I do feel that to have a complete overview of Nic's work you have to have seen his entire filmography.
Where do you stand on the issue of Nic / celebrity sightings and paparazzi shots??
Are they an invasion of privacy or do you feel that it comes with the territory? do we as fans perpetuate things by sharing them?
would love to know your opinion!
For me, I have a line where I begin to feel uncomfortable. If Nic is spotted at a public event that is going to draw media attention, and someone shares that, it is different than if he's trying to keep a low profile or out with his family and so on. I think I've pretty much shared how I feel about the 'culture of celebrity' that prescribes they are pretty much public property....just because that's the way it is, doesn't, in my view, mean that it's ok, or that I personally as a fan have to buy into that.
Wherever did it say in the rule book that being an artist or actor meant never having a shred of privacy when you step out of your door, only when the concept was created and reinvented over and over again did it become the norm.
I had this exact conversation with someone recently, and they told me that by being a Nic Cage fan and having a site meant I had bought into the culture of celebrity too...for me, a website where we can express our admiration and appreciation is not an invasion of privacy at all but a totally non invasive environment to just totally Nic out without intruding in any way on Nic's life! And while it could be said that my admiration of the work of Nicolas Cage is disproportionately passionate, it's not in any way intruding or with any kind of an expectation.
That seems different than the expectation of the media and to some extent to public. For me, not all of the conversation I want to have is about what is going on in Nic's life, it's more about his movies....and it's true I do love to see photos of Nic, but only ones that are consensual! And it feels less intrusive to have spy photos on a movie set than pap photos when someone is not at work and is clearly not wanting to have a camera in their face!
Are there ways to be a dedicated fan without having any expectation or without intruding in any way or supporting an invasion of privacy? I think so! Perhaps we are intruding simply by having a conversation like this about another human being.........?
Bleh........I get like this sometimes, I call it my conflicted fan crisis! Lol
Anyway........where do my fellow Cagealot Castle friends stand on the subject?! I'm sure it's different for us all!
Oh, Lula, I never meant to post a second topic regarding the same question. I haven't visited the other parts of this forum yet. By the way, thanks for your answer. But all I need is just a "your own definition" of fandom as a fan of Nic. =)) A simple explanation will do. And I have only 30 minutes to discuss this main course on my very 1st episode. I think there's no commercials in between. So, it's a straight 30 minutes discussions. In fact, I wouldn't do the live coverage of this course yet I'm preparing now for the recording of my audio to be submitted by tomorrow. Lats but not the list, I'm going to share to you the URL of my radio show once I'm done with my recording. ^^ Thanks!!!
well, Reggie, take what you like from what i have shared here! sorry, that is as brief as i personally can make it!
maybe people would be more inclined to share if you told us more about your radio show ?!
Ok! For the very 1st time in my whole life, I am now given an opportunity to do some radio show. But this show would go for either 15 or 30 minutes depending on the topic I am giving to my audience. Now, my radio show is named as "haengbok1987". "haengbok" means happiness and the year "1987" is my birth. So disregards the birth year. This show will tackle about every person's happiness. As for my very 1st episode, I'll be talking about "fandom". I am very very aware of these teens who has lots of love for their fandoms and they even didn't mind how would they sacrifice a lot just to buy their favorite stuffs of their idols such as albums, photo magazines, etc. And that's where I'm going to start as a host of this show. And for my 2nd episode, I'll be talking about "the advantage being a cosplayer aside from happiness" which is somewhat related to the 1st episode. Lots of teens and young adults also are doing this kind of stuff everywhere in the world especially here in my country, Philippines and Japan. =)) So before I could finalize these things out, I interviewed some of my friends and random followers regarding these two topics. I am hoping to make this show a successful one. Phew! Sorry for my bad english. I lost my few written paragraphs awhile ago due to electricity turned down for a minute.
I happened to know 'haengbok' means 'happiness' in Korean, your username is great Reggie! I am not a very much fan of any entertainers except Nic i must say, I was a member of two Chinese Nic fan sites before I came to this forum. Here is my definition of 'fandom': A fandom, Cagealot Castle is a spiritual haven of mine where a group of people who are sexually attracted to, obsessed with Nic as much as I do showing their full support and solidarity with Nicolas Cage, where I believe every loyal Nicster's ethereal love for their very own idol can dwell in. Forgive me for my poor English. Good luck on your first radio show Reggie
