It is always inspiring to read an intelligent and considered review, with such a fresh perspective....a well spent few minutes, thank you for posting Tues!
I really enjoyed the insights. I agree that with David Lynch films you really get the feeling for their artistic alignment with his own vision irrespective of their reception , but in terms of Wild At Heart, David did change the ending of the book it was adapted from, possibly to make the ending to make it more audience / Hollywood friendly and after audience reactions to first showings of the film, (If I recall correctly, some walked out) removed scenes that were too violent / upsetting. (nDoes anyone else remember reading this? ) So it would be over simplistic to say that he works in a vacuum, he does consider the audience and film's reception.
