Agreed, an interesting character choice for Nic, and unlikely he will play a straight up out and out baddie as his trademark talent is multilayered conficted roles
Accoring to the first article lady Trueheart posted, Dakota Fanning has been in talks to play one of the lead roles as the teens on the run and 'Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall have all been mentioned for supporting roles' somewhat misleading..or it may have been me misreading but you are right Gina, Juno Temple is now the female lead and according to this article, Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall are no longer attached.
So the cast is Nic, Juno Temple and Johnny Knoxville!
An interesting name for the female lead: 'Lila Belle Clyde':
"Temple will play Lila Belle Clyde, a Southern small town beauty queen who gets her hands on a stash of stolen diamonds and attempts to make off with them in order to leave New Orleans behind, forcing her to “elude authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self described wolf determined to hunt her down and recover his swag.” Cage will play Odel, the murderous thief who stole the diamonds in the first place. Jesse Baget will direct the road trip drama from a script he wrote with Stefania Moscato. "
Thank you for the update Lula, and Lady T! would love to see Nic play a ruthless role like Eddie in Deadfall and Peter Loew in VK. slight disappointment for me, but I'm with you Gina Hi Voodoo child, lovely to see you again, how goes? I wonder he didn't play a villain character in Trespass, did he?
Lol, exactly Roxy. I'm sure most people will act like Kyle if someone put a gun under the heads of their family members, friends or strangers, without caring themselves
I don`t know, Tues! I think, most people in real life are pretty cowardly! But, there are also people, who find the courage, to act like Kyle in such a situation! :)

This would be the fourth time that Nics' characters stolen something: a diaper bag in Raising Arizona (1989), fifty-limo in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), the Declaration of Independence in National Treasure (2004). What is more important than the Declaration of Independence for him to steal? I think it is not diamonds but the hearts of the world this time My favorite plot from Trespass would around the middle half of the drama where Kyle explained the etymology of the word DIAMOND composedly to invaders, so I'm intrigued to know what's going on in this one. Kyle Odel, Odel Kyle
Right, Lady T.! But, there, he said to angela, that he don`t like, what he does and do to the people, who wouldn`t deserve that! But, luckily, as they did a con on him, he got the chance, to start a new, honest life! So, he wasn`t all bad in there!
@Gina: I think, most of us, love to see our Sir Nicolas playing rather a hero than a villain!

Well, I thought Roy was a financial defrauder(in the third degree), but an ultimate thief would be a accurate description of him. Thanks for adding Lady T.
I must admit though, I suppose I've come to love Nic playing the hero.
I don't know if I can watch him being an all-out killer. In Face/off it was done so cleverly that Nic got to actually play, both the villan and the hero.
And with Bangkok Dangerous, he was a killer with a conscience and clear soft spot.
Ha Nic ever played an all out goodie or baddie?!?! or anything 'straight up'? there is always a twist another layer or a different dimension to the character to varying degrees. Hang on..It Could Happen to You..Charlie is pretty seamlessly good...without anything added or taken away...
This new flick will also be a road movie, not quite Wild At Heart though.. I am sure..though it is interesting that Nic will be the pursuer not the pursued in this one... or perhaps he will be in a pursuit sandwhich!
I don`t think he did, Lula! I remember an interview, (I believe, it was in the early 90s around ICHTY) where he says, that he doesn`t want to play a character either too good or too bad, because, life "is more complicated than that".
