Aruba lineup includes Stolen, The Magic of Belle Isle, In the Land of Blood and Honey, Polanski doc

Rob Reiner’s The Magic of Belle Isle starring Morgan Freeman, Virginia Madsen to open the third Aruba international film festival.
The third Aruba International Film Festival (AIFF, June 22-28) will kick off with Rob Reiner’s comedy The Magic of Belle Isle and play host to a lineup including Simon West’s action Stolen starring Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey and documentary Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir.
The festival’s lineup comprises 21 titles in total.
The Magic of Belle Isle actress Virginia Madsen will be in Aruba to present the film on opening night. Madsen stars alongside Morgan Freeman in the story of an author who moves to a rural town in order to reignite his passion for writing.
The actress will also participate in AIFF’s In Conversation With… series. Editor Pietro Scalia is also among industry in conversation.
Among other festival strands are the Caribbean Spotlight Series, CSS Short Films in Competition, CSS Special Screenings.
AIFF attendees include Richard Kind, Marco Spagnoli, Steven Stabler, Brandon Harris and LaVelle Smith. Rock concerts will come from Colombian performer Juanes, singer Marc Anthony and DJ Chuckie.
Claudio Masenza serves as artistic director of the festival founded by Jonathan Vieira.
It is good news, and let's hope so, Flo! I think Aruba would be a pretty nice place to go to for a film festival, and I hope Nic will be there for the showing.
Really excited to see Nic portray a 'masterthief' but I think I am going to have to call him Mr Montgomery. Another 'Will' may be just too confusing for my small brain.
Aruba certaily looks like a wonderful place to visit, a lovely temperate climate and beautiful white sand beaches. Too bad we could not all go there to see Stolen in person!
