Ah, that's sad! But, though it might not work, as the article says let's not give up hope! You never know what happens, and it is still a great idea. Thanks for letting this know Flo!

My brain only works on one power... The power of Nicolas Cage!
Rumors flew earlier in the week that Charlie Kaufman‘s (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) ambitious project Frank or Francis might, sadly, never come together at all – though Kaufman’s reps are not ready to say any more than it has merely been postponed. The project is a “musical satire” about Hollywood and the internet, and has Steve Carell, Jack Black, Nicolas Cage, Kevin Kline and Elizabeth Banks all set to star, though questions about it ever coming to fruition have been numerous of late.
Kaufman has been busy with quite a few other projects (including writing his first novel, writing and directing an HBO series staring Catherine Keener, and adapting the YA novel Chaos Walking: The Knife Of Never Letting Go, so it’s not difficult to fathom that Frank or Francis may have unfortunately dropped from the top of his priority list. For more on the troubled project and what some of the film’s stars have said about its prospects, hit the jump.
During her recent press tour for her current film People Like Us, Elizabeth Banks said ofFrank or Francis, “We didn’t get to shoot that movie. It was ready to go, and, as many movies do, it fell apart at the last minute.” Kevin Kline also said something similarly bleak in April, commenting he hadn’t heard from Kaufman in five months and couldn’t take the project seriously yet.
Though Frank or Francis has been described variously as a “wacky” and “out-there” idea, with Kaufman at the helm and such an intriguing cast waiting in the wings, it would be unfortunate if the project got lost in the shuffle.
But The Playlist, who reports per Kaufman’s reps that the project is merely postponed, suggests we hold out hope:
Let’s note, Banks herself still holds out hope. “I honestly don’t know where that film is at,” she said. “We were supposed to make it sooner, but it’s been pushed. I think they’re waiting for everybody’s lives to come back together…I don’t really know anything about it.” Megan Ellison, your move?

I read this too Flo..and have since been in denial about it so didn't get around to posting...so thank you.
If this movie does not happen it will be the saddest I have ever been about a project that was rumoured for Nic but never came to fruition. It seems just such the perfect synergy of writing, acting and direction, and such a fresh, contemporary idea that cannot fail as a film on an artistic, critical or financial level.
Fingers and everything else crossed that this is just a scheduling issue, an it will all, magically, come together in the end!
This is, indeed, sad news! :( But, fingers crossed, that it, magNICally, happens, that the movie finally could be produced and finished! Thanks for posting it, Flo! I posted two similar articles here:
Kaufman's team said it was postponed, so I will take that and keep hoping. I am so interested in this movie for Nic, I refuse to think it won't happen.

Yes. this will be my mindset too.. come on universe - conspire to make this one happen!
C'mon I would take postponing as an answer, I wonder what the project it is that Charlie Kaufman is concentrating on now. Anyhow, the longer they take this movie might be better as they could patch up all the movie bugs?
'Frank Or Francis': Jack Black Wishes Charlie Kaufman Film Would 'F---ing Happen'
"Frank Or Francis" is the kind of Hollywood-skewering fever dream that could only come from the mind of Charlie Kaufman. The film tells the story of an angry blogger (to be played by Jack Black), his bête noire (Steve Carell), an action star (Nicolas Cage), the director of the highest grossing movie in the world (Kevin Kline) and the director's brother, who is also an animatronic head (Kline again). It's also a musical.
Unfortunately, due to financing, the film isn't necessarily going to happen. Back in June, Elizabeth Banks (who's attached to star as well) told Moviefone that "Frank or Francis" was put into turnaround.
"We didn’t get to shoot that movie," Banks said. "It was ready to go, and, as many movies do, it fell apart at the last minute.” Added the actress: "I really want to work with Charlie Kaufman, I would do anything with him. I really hope it comes together."
Four months later, it appears that Banks is still waiting to fulfill that dream. In an interview with Vulture, "Frank or Francis" star Jack Black said the film was still looking for some additional funding.
"I wish that it would f--king happen, but I think it is a little too expensive for how ambitious it is," he said. "It is a very surreal and dark look at Hollywood. I f--king love it. We are just about 10 million dollars shy of the cost to make it, so if anyone out there reading this can scrape together a cool 10 mil, this thing can happen."
Doesn't anybody have 10 million dollars in their bank account? I would if I could , but I can't so I wouldn't. I am with Jack tho. I hope this does comes to fruition. Nic needs to get away from these dark thrillers with convicts, cops, guns and killing. I want to see him singing and dancing.
