Sylvester Stallone says he “has no knowledge of Nic Cage joining Expendables 3,” the actor told Deadline today, and that reports of negotiations for the Oscar winner to join the latest film in the action franchise are false. Several news outlets reported yesterday that Stallone had confirmed Cage for the next Expendables movie, citing either a Stallone fan Facebook page purporting to be the actor’s own or comments by Stallone that appeared in Spanish daily El Pais earlier this year. In the El Pais article, Cage’s name — as well as that of Mickey Rourke, who was in the first Expendables, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes — were noted as additions to a third Expendables. Those statements were made during European junkets this summer for Expendables 2, when Stallone was asked at a press conference who he would like to see in a possible second sequel. Although the Cage rumors are untrue, what is a fact is that Expendables 3 is in the offering. NuImage/Millennium Films has been selling international distribution rights at AFM this past week.
I wish, they would finally say clearly, if he`s in or not! Or, Nic himself, would give a statement, if he will be in or not! Yesterday, they say, Nic will join the cast, and today, they say the opposite (like, if it is a bad joke)? But, according to Flo, Stallone confirmed it on his fb-page! And, today, they say, that he has no knowledge about that? That sounds really strange to me! Thanks, Lady T., for posting!

I wish, there were a reliable source, that would make and end to those "back-and-forth"-rumours, or Nic himself would clearly say, if he stars in it or not!

I think that the twitter account was a false one and so it seems Stallone was misquoted. Too bad, but I am still hopeful that Nic may yet appear in the next one.
I have been watching this whole "will he, won't he" The Expendables saga as it unfolds, and amidst all the ambiguity TWO things are very clear, all film rumours would be best taken with a huge pinch of salt until they are officially confirmed, and how the majority of people think this film would be much better with Nic IN it.
Stallone and future director producers of the Expendbles franchise, you really are missing a trick.
IMdB added it to his filmography (although, with an open release date), and I read several, new articles on the net, where they say that he (among other actors) is in talk, to star in it!:
We just need to see. Rotten Tomatoes put up Frank or Francis and Amicus, those movies came out of nowhere. I thought Frank or Francis was delayed anyway, or not even started yet
You're right, I agree. I'd love to see him in any role. I saw a fake front cover that has the heroes on top and Nicolas on the bottom. I immediately thought: VILLAIN
Nicolas Cage has strongly dispelled rumours that he'll be in the next instalment in the 'Expendables' action movies.
After being rumoured to be joining the Expendables 3 cast, Knowing actor Nicolas Cage has shot down such murmurings in an interview with Den of Geek putting it plainly that he'd had no involvement so far: "I have not had any formal discussions about that movie," he said referring to Expendables. "I'm not in Kick-Ass 2 and I don't think I'm in Expendables 3. And I like those guys, but I would say it would be highly unlikely that I'd be in that movie," he added, destroying another fervent internet rumour while he was at it.

Thanks for the update, Lady T.! Indeed! Pity! Although, IMDB has it still added to his filmography, with the status "pre-production"! But, as we have it confirmed now, by Nic, that he won`t star in it, they, hopefully, will remove it again from his list!
